Original Abstract

Fatigue, in the sense of the word used in engineering, is a misnomer for what is a very straightforward mechanism. The time to failure of the specimens, as expressed by the number of the load cycle; is, it is today called an S-N curve. Its graph shows the relationship of the fluctuating stress in a material against the number of repeats, or cycles, of that stress to failure. This article exhibits basic fatigue failure factors and compares the results of fatigue analysis carried out by ANSYS program and steel civil engineering valid design code.
