Abstract

Original Abstract

Pharmaceutical pollution in the environment is an emerging concern, particularly regarding the behaviour of active compounds in soil ecosystems. This study examines the sorption, desorption, and diffusion of lamotrigine in four distinct soil types from the Czech Republic, aiming to understand its environmental behaviour. Batch sorption experiments will be conducted to determine sorption coefficients and isotherms, while desorption assays will assess the reversibility of the process. Additionally, column experiments will be used to evaluate the vertical transport of lamotrigine under saturated conditions. By correlating sorption and transport properties with soil characteristics such as organic matter content and pH, this research seeks to provide insights into the fate of lamotrigine in terrestrial ecosystems. The findings will contribute to the broader understanding of pharmaceutical contamination in soils and its potential impact on groundwater quality.
