Original Abstract

Hydrometallurgical recycling of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) is becoming a key technology for the sustainable recycling of critical materials such as lithium, cobalt and nickel. This article focuses on new trends and challenges in hydrometallurgical processes, including the development of leaching reagents or new separation processes, and increasing overall recycling efficiency. Innovations such as the use of biological and organic leaching methods are discussed. The main challenges include reducing the environmental impact, improving economic efficiency.

English abstract
