Original Abstract
The rise of wireless sensing technologies and the Internet of Things has created a growing demand for efficient hybrid energy harvesting systems. This paper presents a necessary analysis of such a hybrid system, combining both piezoelectric and electromagnetic mechanisms to generate electricity from mechanical vibrations. This analysis is a crucial step for efficient implementation into industrial applications, ensuring that the system can meet practical performance requirements. The focus is on optimizing resistive loads for both circuits to maximize power output and improve energy conversion efficiency. A single-degree-of-freedom mathematical model is used to investigate the interaction between the mechanical, piezoelectric, and electromagnetic components. Numerical simulations are employed to identify optimal conditions for efficient energy harvesting, demonstrating that combining multiple energy conversion methods could enhance overall system performance.
