Original Abstract

In the paper the design of a special PCB will be presented as well as its usage for the presentation of ISA adapter design. The PCB carries all main types of hardware resources, which are used on ISA adapters : the input and output registers, the memory and sources of interrupt requests. The address decoder is fully programmable. This feature enables students to understand the principles of communication on the ISA bus. The adapter also allows to develop and verify the contents of adapter–BIOS ROM. The third feature, the generation of interrupt requests, permits to exercise the principles of writing interrupt handling routines. Practical experiences on educational purpose of the PCB are also presented.
