Original Abstract

Once a conventional structural color filter is fabricated, its optical response cannot be changed. By incorporating tunable materials into these filters, we can alter the performance of color-filtering metasurfaces even after fabrication. In this work, we use vanadium dioxide for its thermally inducible and repeatable transition from dielectric to metallic state at ca. 67 °C. We prepare holey structural color filters with various Al/VO2 geometries and analyze the thermally inducible tunability of these colorfiltering systems.
