Original Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a network of interrelated devices (e.g., vehicles or appliances or other physical objects) that are embedded with sensors and software that allow one to connect and exchange data with other IoT devices and the cloud. This research focusses on the usage of the Internet of Things in the Czech construction industry. The main objective of the study was to collect, analyse, and compare data obtained from interviews from companies specialising in the Internet of Things. On the basis of the results, it can be stated that the field is relatively young and is actively developing in the Czech Republic. The main barrier identified to implement IoT at present is the low awareness among investors about the technology. In terms of technological solutions, many respondents highlighted unique challenging cases as a way to develop technologies and attract consumers. The best and unique solutions were often created based on an investor's request that couldn't be solved using traditional methods.
