Original Abstract

Petrochemical plastics are widely used materials in everyone's daily life, which is why their negative impact on the environment is increaasing. It is necessary to find suitable plastic alternatives - e.g. polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA). PHA are biodegradable and biocompatible polymers produced by many microorganisms. The concept of Next generation industrial biotechnology is beginning to be implemented in industrial biotechnology. This direction uses extremophilic microorganisms. In our work we build on this idea by using thermophilic bacteria. We are testing and monitoring the biotechnological potential of selected bacterial genera - Caldimonas, Rubrobacter, Tepidimonas and Schlegelella.
