Original Abstract

The analytical solution of the flood hydrograph and other dam breaching parametera in case of embankment breaching is presented. Under simlifying assumptions, relations for calculating outflow hydrograph due to breaching have been derived analytically. Simple formule may be easily configured using e.g. MS EXCEL. The formulae were tested using results of experiments carried out at the outdoor Laboratory at Brno Technical University (LBTU). The measured and calculated courses of the water level in the reservoir as well as the outflow discharge show a fairly good egreement.
