Original Abstract
This paper examines the additional losses caused by eddy currents in various types of windings typically used for oil distribution transformers. Two models were selected for 2D simulation using the finite element method, one with only a core leg and the other with the core leg and yoke. The parameters of the models are based on real manufactured transformers of rated power 250, 630 and 1000 kVA. The final results are discussed and compared with measurements. The highest percentage of additional losses is found in the foil winding, followed by round, rectangular wire, and finally the lowest percentage is found in the flattened round wire. The presence of the yoke near the winding end significantly reduces these losses in foil and, conversely, increases them slightly in wire winding.
