Original Abstract

Love-wave gas sensing devices based on polypyrrole (PPy) modified with silver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) are developed and validated towards relevant volatile organic biomarkers (e.g., ethanol, acetone and toluene) involved in early disease diagnosis. Results demonstrate the functionality of the sensors with improved limits of detection, for instance 40 ppb for ethanol, 45 ppb for acetone and 89 ppb for toluene, compared to other gravimetric sensors.
