Original Abstract

The aim of the experimental research was to design a suitable formula of heavy weight concrete for the development of a reinforced concrete shielding element whose density would exceed 3500 kg∙m-3. Magnetite was chosen as a suitable aggregate for the shielding of radiation. The prefabricated segment - energy channel with the required wall thickness of 300 mm was concreted from the formula developed in this way. Subsequently, homogeneity was tested on the given element and the multiplicity of attenuation for specific types of emitters (caesium and cobalt) was determined by calculation.
