Original Abstract

Short message service (SMS) is an integral part of modern data communications applications. This paper illustrates in brief, the salient signal processing and protocol design aspects involved in the realization of an SMS application for AMSAT Phase 3-E (P3E) satellite, which include my recent work on the serially concatenated codes, and the SMS protocol design considerations.
