Abstract

AxeDYN in version 1.0 is a software tool to solve the problems of steady or unsteady lubrication in the thrust bearing of any rotor machine. Software containing two modules: • Module 1 is designed to address the steady state of flow in the thrust bearing, including the influence of temperatures, the influence of shear rates on the lubricant properties, the effect of the bearing load variability on the rotor speed. This module is significantly faster than models available in commercial CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) systems. • Module 2 is designed to address unsteady states of the thrust bearing and includes a specific solution approach to the high solution speed while maintaining sufficient accuracy. The results of this module's solution enable cooperation with commercial multibody systems (MBS). Software allows the study of any geometry of the thrust bearing running surfaces under arbitrary boundary conditions. Preprocessing and postprocessing are performed using the Python based user interface.
