Original Abstract

We discuss the detection of high frequency signals produced by partial discharges, emphasizing the localization of the discharges and the related recording, processing, and interpretation of the effect in the time and frequency domains. Determining the exact position of PD has proved to be a beneficial and cost-effective activity in large-sized devices such as oil cooled transformers. Within the latter two stages, multiple localization and detection methods are applicable; in this paper, was used UHF method with utilization of energy criterion for detection of mutual time delays. The techniques are successively examined, implemented, and tested using the input data obtained from the experiments. Relevant evaluation and comparison are performed to yield a well-balanced, dependable presentation.
