Original Abstract

The presented paper deals with the determination of the efficiency of wastewater treatment plants, concentration limits and values of permissible pollution of surface water and wastewater, requirements for permitting discharges of wastewater into surface water and into sewerage in sensitive areas. The objective of this paper is to define the provisions of European Community legislation on surface water protection. These findings are applied in selected wastewater treatment plants in the Czech Republic where the monitored wastewater quality indicators are statistically evaluated. The statistical evaluation of the data is made during the period of changes in the legislation when BAT (Best Available Technologies) are introduced).
