Original Abstract

Sprayed concrete is important construction material for underground structures. Especially in NATM to provide a primary lining, which can be loaded by bending. Since concrete has a relatively low tensile strength, the failure often appears in this way. Laboratory determination of tensile strength is usually performed by splitting tensile test, but the specimen is not subjected to a pure tensile stress. Mentioned fact can lead to some distortion of the results. The paper therefore focuses on comparing the tensile strength determined indirect by the splitting tensile test and the tensile strength determined direct by the Modified Tensile Test.
