The approaches to the development of students' analytical-research skills in business and managerial disciplines

In recent days is great emphasis placed on creative activity based on the requirements of business practice, which calls for innovative approaches from graduates of higher education to reality exploration and independent proposals for solutions to the problems and challenges faced, both in relation to the internal and external environment. Students must not only know the relevant research methodology but be able to analyze and flexibly think and choose appropriate research approaches and methods so that they can correctly grasp, analyze, draw up relevant proposals, alternatives or recommendations corresponding to the objectives of the problem solved. There is a need to link theory to practice through practical application and activation methods and techniques to develop the creativity and analytical thinking of students in business and managerial disciplines. The aim of the paper is to describe and evaluate the current concept of the practical-application course named "Research Methods in Management", taught at the Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Business and Management.
