Original Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the mutual effect of two low-NOx methods, namely the gas staging and the internal flue gas recirculation, on the parameters of the combustion process such as the NOx and CO emissions, flue gas temperature, heat flux from hot flue gas to the load, in-flame temperatures distribution, and the flame stability. The results showed that the use of fuel staging together with the flue gas recirculation contributed to more than 50% reduction of NOx, enhanced radiative heat transfer, reduced temperature peaks in the flame core and led to more uniform temperature profile in the combustion chamber compared to the conventional one-staged combustion.
