In data transmission only messages transported without errors are important to the receiver. To ensure an error-free message transmission, anti-error code systems are mostly used. In recent years, these were most frequently detection codes in systems with feedback. At present, correction codes are used with increasing frequency. But information about the frequency of their application is scarce. This is reflected in the little interest in problems of correction codes. The paper gives a survey of some applications of a very efficient correction code, which is referred to as the Reed-Salomon code.
