Original Abstract

The contribution is focused on the wavy deformations of the running edge of the rail - namely short-pitch corrugation and particularly long-pitch corrugation. These defects cause a shorter life of the rails, greater maintenance costs and increase the noise and vibration pollution. The article deals with the measurements executed on the selected sections of the railway infrastructure, its aspects and reflects the preliminary evaluation of the measured data. The article also brings more details about the monitoring locations stemmed from the literature and infrastructure manager sources. Lastly, the common complications during the corrugation measurements on the tracks with traffic are described in the article.
