Original Abstract

The design of electric devices intended for operation under extremely severe thermal and electric stress conditions must be based on the use of insulating systems, which meet increased service life and reliability requirements. Until now, no sufficient knowledge is available about the effect of high-voltage and high-temperature induced aging on the service life of high-temperature insulators. This paper is therefore intended to study of the relation between the insulator transport characteristics and their high-voltage and high-temperature induced aging. The subject of our investigations was a high-temperature material called "thermikanit 26.000" of a thickness of 0.3 mm. As a result of our studies, a highly pronounced relation between the above characteristics and the aging process has been established in this material. Furthermore, the established temperature dependence of the electric conductivity made it possible to determine the activation energy of the electric conductivity processes.
