Original Abstract

Economic evaluation of a project is an important basis for an investment decision that is not concerned with the financial aspect of a project only, but which is also evaluated from the point of view of the entire society. The aim of this article is to conduct an economic evaluation of investment in waterway infrastructure for the most important construction in terms of navigability of Elbe from Děčín towards Germany. The authors determined a minimum quantity of water-transported tonne-kilometres so the investment would still be profitable. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis was held for, in economic terms, the riskiest factors of the project.

English abstract
