Original Abstract
This paper proposes a new method for automationand optimization of coverage-driven verification (CDV) ofhardware systems that is based on evolutionary computing. Incomparison with the standard CDV that utilizes random search,using this method, the convergence to the maximum coverageis much faster, fewer input stimuli are used and no manualeffort is required from the user. Moreover, the optimization istargeted to the verification process itself without the dependenceon the circuit that is verified. For the demonstration purposes, thesequential arithmetic-logic unit (ALU) and the RISC processorwere verified and the results show that using the optimizationmethod, a significant improvement can be achieved.
