Original Abstract

Bike riding is associated with the promotion of environmental protection and physical activity among the population. The objective of this paper is to analyse bicycle sharing system (BSS) and the potential of bicycle transport in Europe, especially in the Czech Republic. Such a system can assist to achieve the goals of development of cycling as an alternative to the public transport system. This paper highlights economic effects of bike sharing systems. Main methodology used for the economic analysis of the BSS is based on the CBA approach.
