Original Abstract

Abstract: Automotive industry belongs to one of the fastest developing branches where the emphasis is put not only on engine power, but also on a driving comfort, environment, and lifetime of each component. Regarding the increasing number of vehicles, wide variety of restrictions determining permissible values had to be created. This means that the process of development is becoming more multidisciplinary. Therefore, the former approach, implementing experience, had to be replaced by complex tasks of simulation and also experimental background. This paper deals with a field of transmission noise and vibration. A method to evaluate noise and vibration is designed, assembled and tested on the experimental single-stage gearbox for the purpose of development and improvement. At first, the natural frequencies are evaluated by experiment and finite element method. To gain properly stated input excitation the experimental shaker was designed and constructed for the experimental purposes. After satisfactory correlation with simulation, the gearbox is completely assembled and rundown tests are evaluated. Rotation speed is controlled up to 3000 rpm with constant loading moment and the surface normal velocities and noise level are observed. Based on the input data gained from the finite element method and experiment, the multibody dynamics system is created. The results gained from the multibody dynamics system correspond with the experiment. These methods are afterwards applied to real heavy duty truck transmission system.
