Original Abstract

The goal of fuzzy regulation project is to create the tool for the transient simulation of CC and real-time fuzzy regulation. The simulator called FUZZY CASTING is based on a unique combination of transient numerical model of temperature field and the fuzzy regulation algorithm. The tool can be used for: •Simulations of continuous casting process •Location of solidification points (metallurgical length) •Simulations of transient states. •Optimal reaction to non-standard and breakdown situations (a jump change of casting speed, breakdown of cooling circuit or a particular nozzle in secondary cooling, pouring temperature variation, etc.). •For steady state, the determination of optimal relationship for the cooling intensity as a function of the casting speed and of the overheating temperature and its integration to the casting control system. The concept of the project is very general and can be used for optimal control of any CC process (cross-section of the slab, steel grades, caster geometry, casting limitation, type of nozzles, etc.)
