The aim of this work was to prepare and evaluate imunomagnetic microspheres for the isolation of Lactobacillus cells from food matrices. Two types of magnetic particles coated by streptavidine were used: magnetic porous glass (MPG) (diameter 5 µm) (10 mg/mL, 4.6 x 107 particles/mL) (PureBiotech, USA) and 2.9 µm magnetic poly(glycidyl methacrylate) microspheres containing NH2 groups [P(GMA)-NH2]. They were functionalised with biotynilated anti-Lactobacillus antibody and used for separation of Lactobacillus cells. Preconcentration of cells in a milk product was also tested.
