Original Abstract
Non-stationary diffusion processes and the diffusion cell techniques of basic organic dyes (Methylene Blue and Rhodamine 6G) was studied in supported hydrogel matrix with different content of humic acids (standard samples of International Humic Substances Society – Leonardite). A simple spectrophotometric method was utilized in the in situ measurement of dye concentration at different distances from the boundary by non stationary diffusion in cuvettes. The rate of interactions of humic acids in diffusion cells was compared by fundamental diffusion parameters such as effective diffusion coefficients, the lag time and the binding capacity of humic acids. The effect of modification (methylation) of humic acids was studied by both diffusion techniques. Carboxylic groups became occupied by methyl groups during methylation, so the sorption capacity of modified sample should be lower. The results confirmed the strong immobilization of chosen diffusion probes caused by their sorption on humic acids.
