Agriculture and food industry generate large amount of carbon-rich waste products and by-products which disposal represent serious environmental issue. On the contrary, these waste materials can be also considered as inexpensive substrates for various biotechnological processes. This strategy is beneficial for several reasons – waste material is used in environmentally-friendly way and; moreover, utilization of cheap waste substrate might reduce cost of the biotechnological products.
