Jedná se o kovový žlab délky 400cm, uchycený v příčné ose, umožňující naklopení na sklon 0-56 stupňů. Žlab je plněn různými typy filtračních materiálů, na povrchu je umístěno rozdělovací potrubí. Zkouší se vzdálenost, velikost a další parametry rozdělovacích potrubí a otvorů v nich pro stejnoměrné rozdělení průtoku po povrchu vertikálních kořenových čistíren odpadních vod. Dále může být žlab plněn různými druhy půd a zatěžován srážkou (reálnou či umělou vytvořenou pomocí simulátoru deště). Zjišťován je pak povrchový a podpovrchový odtok, případně povrchový smyv půdy. Určovat lze také vliv různého vegetačního pokryvu na projevy eroze.

It is a metal reclining flume (400 cm length), attached in its transverse axis, which enables inclination 0-56 degrees. The flume is filled by the different types of filtration materials, on the surface is the distribution pipe. The distance, diameter and other charakteristics of pipe and holes in it are tested for uniform water distribution in vertical reed-bed treatment plants. The flume can be also filled by the different types of soil and then can be burdened by the precipitation (natural or artificial from the rainfall simulator). The surface and sub-surface run-off or the soil loss is measured. It is also possible to determinate an influence of vegetation cover on the erosion process.
