Original Abstract

The paper describes the Performance-Based Design methodology (PBD), particularity for the reinforced concrete structures and presents an effective sotware tools. Selected studies show the advantages of such an approach. In this respect the present paper deals also with durability (quantified by service life) and reliability (quantified by the probability of failure or reliability index) which are among the decisive structural performance characteristics to deal when deciding on deteriorating structures.
