Original Abstract

This paper deals with design procedure of structural glass beams subjected to lateral-torsional buckling. Because of slenderness of glass plates, it is necessary to the stability take into account. Results of numerical solution and analytical solution are compared in graphs. The evaluation of bending moment capacity by buckling curves approach is described. Because of use of laminated safety glass members in practice, effective bending stiffness and effective torsion stiffness are determined by sandwich theory. From parametric study which was carried out, it is obvious that significant influence of critical lateral-torsional buckling moment (and hence bending moment capacity) has shear modulus of interlayer. Material properties of polyvinyl butyral foil used for interlayer depends on environment temperature and the load duration and it is not possible to simple determine of its.
