Original Abstract

An attempt to eliminate problems with irreversible charging in first cycle if a new lithium ion battery is set to working for the first time was done. It was based on artificial lithiation of the carbonaceous anode by means of three methods, i.e., direct electrochemical one, the usage of FeCl3 as an reagent that helps to lithiation and by direct contact with metallic lithium. Cycling ability and specific capacity were the criterions of suitability; he contact with metal was found to be the best useful one. Battery grade carbon and/or expanded graphite were used as proposed anode materials.
