Original Abstract

This paper deals with single-channel speech extraction from noise. The universal gain function is defined, which can be used for different kinds of spectral subtraction. Subsequently, three basic methods of spectral subtraction are compared – the basic method of spectral subtraction, the nonlinear spectral subtraction and the spectral subtraction using the human ear masking characteristics.
