Original Abstract

Numerical simulations of the flow past a multi-element airfoil in plunging motion are performed. The present research study investigates the physics, the integrated load performance and the propulsive efficiency of the plunging three-element McDonnell Douglas airfoil MDA 30P-30N at Re=6.5x105. Effects of the geometric angle of attack and amplitude of the plunging motion are examined.
