On the project

This project investigates 2D and 3D MOFs featuring distinct metals (Fe, Ni) within their structure. The aim is to identify the effects arising from heteroatom proximity, a highly relevant research topic in the so-called "dual-atom" catalysis. The MOFs will be synthesized on-surface in UHV, and the structure, stability and chemical reactivity will be studied with atomic-scale precision. The dual-atom MOFs will be thoroughly benchmarked against monometallic systems, allowing fundamental insights into the effects induced by heteroatom presence.
