On the project

Gradients of oxygen and reactive oxygen species (ROS) concentrations play a critical role in developmental biology that remains poorly understood. Revealing the mechanisms behind developmental effects is hampered by the difficulty in precise generation of these gradients. Our project involves the use of microelectrochemistry to achieve spatiotemporal control of dissolved oxygen and ROS, providing unprecedented precision and ability to carry out high-throughput multiwell experiments. These gradients are achieved by microfabricated electrode systems and multichannel electronics repurposed from the field of neuroscience.
