By integrating scaffolds with hydrogels, hematopoietic stem cells (HSC), hematopoietic progenitors, and supporting niche cells (osteoblasts and endothelial cells), the project aims to closely replicate the hierarchical structure of the BM-niches and the dynamic cellular interplay necessary for HSC maintenance. Artificial niches will provide a platform for investigating the molecular mechanisms regulating HSCs behaviour, including self-renewal, differentiation, and mobilization.
