On the project

Neuromodulation therapies are used to treat a wide range of diseases and disorders in drug resistant patients. Electrical stimulation can lead to irreversible electrochemical processes and, thus, induce oxidative stress. Molecular oxygen is an essential nutrient with a crucial role in metabolic pathways and intracellular biochemical reactions.Studying the changes in oxygen concentration when neuromodulation protocols are applied to living systems is crucial to expand the knowledge of the mechanisms behind such therapies.
