On the project

The deformation twinning in hcp metals still not clearly understood. Several unusual twin interfaces such as {11-22} and {11-26} twins reported in recent studies, which can act as an obstacle for growth of classical twin. In the current study we will perform computer modeling for several selected interfaces in Mg hcp metals and describe their formation and migration on atomistic level. The proposed project will provide insight understanding of interaction of growing (10-12) twins with unusual twin interfaces.
