Brno University of Technology will once again join the charity event Hospice Cake, which takes place on Wednesday, October 8. People will have the opportunity to buy a sweet cake and support a good cause. This year’s proceeds will be donated to support home health care or to purchase equipment for the House of Peaceful Old Age Kamenná and the inpatient hospice in Rajhrad. Three stands will be located on the campus, specifically at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, at the Faculty of Business and Management, and at the final stop of tram No. 12 by the Faculty of Chemistry. Another stand will be in front of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Björnson Park near the Piknik Box. In addition, a mobile unit will visit the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (7:15), CEITEC BUT (7:45), Faculty of Information Technology (10:00), Faculty of Architecture (11:00), and the Rectorate (Gorkého at 12:00, Antonínská at 12:30). The traditional fundraiser will take place throughout the day, and people can contribute not only to collection boxes, but also via the website or by sending a payment to the charity account 246641158/0600 with variable symbol 12109. Last year, the charity managed to raise almost CZK 3.5 million, of which more than CZK 105,000 came from Brno University of Technology.Hospice Cake is a traditional fundraiser supporting palliative care, organized annually by the Diocesan Charity Brno. The aim of the event is to raise awareness of the role of hospices and to support charitable care for the dying, so that their final moments of life can be spent in peace and safety. Donations are an important source for Charity to purchase new equipment, medicines, and medical supplies. We thank all those who decide to buy a cake and support hospice care in advance!
