At the beginning of October, the Faculty of Business and Management at Brno University of Technology welcomed representatives from the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) and other partner institutions from the United States. The visit followed a memorandum signed by the universities earlier this March and aimed to discuss specific steps toward international collaboration in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer. The meeting with the American delegation therefore focused primarily on supporting entrepreneurship across universities, future joint projects, and the development of exchange programs for students and academic staff. “We have held several online meetings in recent months with representatives from Georgia Tech University in Atlanta. I am pleased that this time we were able to personally introduce them to the entire innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Brno, including the university one at BUT. During the meeting, we focused on supporting entrepreneurship within university ecosystems and agreed on further steps for developing our collaboration and joint activities,” said Vice-Dean for External Relations of the Faculty of Business and Management, Vít Chlebovský, who attended the meeting. The discussions focused on promoting entrepreneurship across the university, sharing best practices in applying research outcomes into practice, and exchanging experience with programs such as the Soft Landing and Atlanta Innovation Ecosystem Immersion Programs. A delegation from the USA visited FBM. | Author: Václav Koníček In addition, representatives of Georgia Tech offered BUT the opportunity to collaborate with the Georgia Tech Medelin Center innovation hub in Latin America or with the Georgia Tech Research Corporation, which provides doctoral students with paid opportunities to participate in research activities. The topic of doctoral student exchange and their involvement in projects in Atlanta was addressed by BUT Vice-Rector for Lifelong Learning and Quality, Vítězslav Máša. The meeting also covered potential joint projects and short-term exchange stays. Representatives of Fulton County, the most populous municipality in the state of Georgia, also took part in the discussion and expressed interest in developing regional cooperation in innovation and supporting technology start-ups between Fulton County and the South Moravian Region.
