Study and sport at BUT: UNIS will be different from 2025

Support for university sports in the period 2025–2028 will be governed by a new strategy, which was introduced at the beginning of November at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports. The goal of UNIS 2025 is to create conditions at public universities that allow successful and promising athletes with exceptional sporting performance to study while balancing demanding academic requirements, training, and participation in competitions.

A student with exceptional sporting performance is defined as a representative of the Czech Republic or an athlete included in one of the departmental sports centers in the Czech Republic (hereinafter referred to as a “sporting student”) in:

  • an individual sport discipline included in the program of upcoming Summer or Winter Olympic or Paralympic Games, or upcoming Summer or Winter Deaflympics,
  • a team sport: baseball, basketball (including 3x3), curling, floorball, football, handball, ice hockey, field hockey, rugby, softball, water polo, volleyball (including beach volleyball), as well as team sports for athletes with disabilities included in the Paralympic and Deaflympic Games.

At Brno University of Technology (BUT), the coordination and support services for sporting students, along with the organizational development and promotion of university sports, will be managed by the Centre of Sports Activities (CESA). An information meeting for students included in the UNIS 2024 program and those registered for UNIS 2025 will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 18:00 at the Machina Fitness Center (Kolejní 2).
