Public lectures at FEEC BUT, will offer topics on drones, satellites, and mobility.

October and November at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication, Brno University of Technology (FEEC BUT), will be marked by lectures and discussions for students and academics, involving experts from companies. All lectures are open to colleagues from other faculties at BUT, universities, and the general public. The aim is to spark creative discussions on topics currently being addressed by PhD students, scientists, and researchers. Lectures are planned in Czech Language.

A new initiative, diskUTEEr (website in Czech), has been launched under the leadership of Jan Mikulka, head of the Department of Theoretical and Experimental Electrical Engineering (DTEEE). The schedule of events will be gradually expanded, but three meetings have already been planned at the DTEEE premises:

October 23 – Karel Juřík, FEEC BUT: Development of a High-Frequency Plasma Source for Use in Very Low Earth Orbit

Karel Juřík is a PhD student at the Department of Theoretical and Experimental Electrical Engineering at FEKT. His research focuses on electromagnetic resonators for energy extraction in ion thrusters and their use in satellites in very low Earth orbit. For his studies and work, he received the Professor Daniel Mayer Award, which is granted by the Hlávka Foundation to the best students of electrical engineering faculties.

November 6 – Petr Drexler, FEEC BUT: Basics of Working with a Spectrum Analyzer

Petr Drexler’s work at the faculty includes methods for measuring extreme values of electromagnetic quantities, radio-frequency diagnostics of high-voltage systems, and sensors based on electro-optical and magneto-optical effects. He is the lead author of the diagnostic system MOSAD®-MST-PD for detecting and locating partial discharges, which won the Golden Ampér Award in 2015.

November 28 – Jiří Janoušek, FEEC BUT: Legislation for Unmanned Aircraft Not Only at BUT

Jiří Janoušek heads the Drone Research Center, the newest student creative team at BUT focused on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). He is currently the principal investigator of a TAČR project related to drones, specifically an Interface for Intuitive and Reliable Control of a Heterogeneous Group of Robots with Status Monitoring and a Safe Fault-Handling System.

A series of lectures and discussions on mobility
has once again been launched by researchers from the Department of Electrical Power Engineering (UEEN), specifically Petr Baxant and Martin Paar. More information about the colloquium Technical Challenges and Visions for Future Mobility can be found on the website (website in Czech). The program will run until mid-November: October 29 – Jiří Bím, CTU/Solar Association/Zenergo Energy: Agrivoltaics: Part of Modern Agriculture and Energy

A special interdisciplinary afternoon full of guests and speakers
from both BUT and external experts, organized by the Institute of Manual Treatment and Education (IMTE), is scheduled at FEEC BUT for:

October 31 – The Impact of Light on Health. Speakers will include Zdeňka Bendová (Faculty of Science, Charles University), Petr Vrbík (Health Institute), Martin Anders (Head Physician of the Psychiatric Clinic, 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and General University Hospital in Prague), and others.
