Professor Stanislav Obruča has been elected the new Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry
Professor Stanislav Obruča has been elected the new Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry
The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Chemistry at BUT elected, at its regular meeting on 11 November 2025, prof. Ing. Stanislav Obruča, Ph.D., as the candidate for the position of Dean for the term from February 2026 to January 2030. In his election programme, he presented a vision of a modern, dynamic and respected faculty built on the quality of education, ethical integrity, open communication and an international dimension.
Professor Stanislav Obruča has been elected the new Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry.
Professor Obruča works at the Institute of Food Chemistry and Biotechnology of the Faculty of Chemistry at BUT, where he has long been engaged in research on biopolymers and sustainable biotechnologies. He is the author of more than 85 publications in international journals and co-author of several patents. In addition to his scientific and teaching activities, he has been devoted to the popularisation of chemistry for many years.
In his programme, he presents a vision of the faculty as a modern research institution with a “family character” that will also respond flexibly to new challenges. The key concept of his approach is “controlled and accelerated evolution” – development based on open communication, collaboration and improvement of internal processes.
His main priorities include:
Modernisation of study programmes
to meet the current needs of students and employers, reduce study failure rates, and improve the balance between teaching and research.
Ensuring sustainable and high-quality doctoral studies
that will be transparently funded and more closely connected to research teams and practice.
Development of science and research
through a motivating system of evaluation and support, strengthening and modernising the structure of the Centre for Materials Research, and greater involvement in international projects.
Strengthening the third role of the faculty
, i.e. active communication with the public, popularisation of chemistry, and support for the community life of students and staff.
“I believe that the Faculty of Chemistry can grow naturally – through evolution based on trust, intensive cooperation and mutual respect. I want it to be not only a place of high-quality education and top research, but also a vibrant community of people who inspire each other, collaborate, and together advance both the faculty and chemistry as a discipline,” said Professor Stanislav Obruča.
In his election programme, Professor Obruča presented a vision of a modern, dynamic and respected faculty.
