Music festival Hudba z FEKTu 2025 kicked off new semester

On Wednesday, September 17, 2025, the 17th edition of Hudba z FEKTu took place between the Technická 10 and Technická 12 buildings at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication (FEEC) – a traditional student event that opens the winter semester every year. This year's festival attracted an estimated 9-10 thousand people.

On the main stage, five student bands performed after passing through the WarmUp selection round. Visitors then voted for the winner, which was the band ZBYNĚK. The overall ranking was as follows:

1st place – ZBYNĚK
2nd place – Kikibobolapokeb
3rd place – Preceptor
4th place – Worn Out Jacket
5th place – Dandy's Company

Dean Vladimír Aubrecht personally presented awards to the winning bands, and in the afternoon, Rector Ladislav Janíček also visited the festival. The entire event was excellently hosted by Petr František Čírtek, a member of Hudba z FEKTu CORE team and Studenti pro studenty (SPS) association, who took on this role for the second consecutive year. The musical program culminated with a performance by the well-known band Morčata na útěku, who provided the closing show.

The festival also featured a stamp competition in which approximately 800 participants took part. In collaboration with partners – ThermoFisher Scientific, ABB, EG.D, Čas rock radio, and Axians – students could compete for small prizes. They could take home items like pencils, good drinks, or faculty t-shirts. Food on-site was provided by Roburrito, Koblihy, and Páreček, while chilled beer was supplied by the Černá Hora brewery.

Hudba zFEKTu is exceptional because it is completely organized by students who work on its preparation voluntarily in their free time. This aspect of the festival is emphasized by Vice-Dean for External Relations Tomáš Kratochvíl: "Hudba z FEKTu is a great example of what our students can achieve. Everything – from the initial idea, through preparation, to the actual implementation – is their work. It's an event that showcases their creativity, ability to collaborate, and organizational skills. The faculty is rightfully proud of them in this regard."

And how does this year's Hudba zFEKTu leader see it?

"I got involved in organizing Hudba z FEKTu only after several years of gaining experience from previous leaders, from the position of a CORE team member. I accepted this role knowing that I would have to put in great effort and dedication – primarily to avoid tarnishing the reputation that the event has built over its long existence, and at the same time not to close the path for future editions. I'm excited about this year's edition. Thanks to the effort and dedication of the CORE team and people from SPS, the event succeeded without major complications. We managed to maintain the established reputation and I hope we've moved it forward another step," said Tadeáš Šalomon, leader of the 17th edition of Hudba z FEKTu.

The second leader of this year's Hudba zFEKTu, Roman Štofa, added his impressions: "I'm proud that I had the opportunity to lead the 17th edition of Hudba z FEKTu. This entire experience showed me new paths – from working with a team to solving situations that appeared completely unexpectedly. The festival brought me many experiences, but mainly an unforgettable experience that I will remember for a long time. Huge thanks go to our CORE team, who worked from morning to evening and ensured that everyone who came to Hudba z FEKTu enjoyed it – despite all the obstacles that appeared along the way."
