Ideas that change the world. BUT hosted the Czech Heads awards ceremony

Brno belonged to young scientists. Brno University of Technology hosted, exactly one month ago on Sunday, October 5, the 19th edition of the Czech Heads competition. The prestigious award for talented students in the fields of science, technology, and research was received at BUT by seven high school students.

The Czech Heads competition supports future scientists, innovators, and engineers, giving them the opportunity to present their original ideas to an expert jury and the general public. Hosting the award ceremony was a great honor for Brno University of Technology, as the university itself has long been committed to developing young talent.

At the gala evening held in the BUT Rectorate Hall, talented high school students received awards for their projects focused on reducing the energy demands of artificial intelligence, quantum computers in thermodynamics, or even special glasses for the visually impaired. The competition laureates were selected by an expert jury composed of leading Czech scientists based on nominations.

In addition to the BUT rector, other representatives of the university’s leadership also attended the ceremony, emphasizing the importance of such projects for the development of an educated and innovative society. “Behind the original ideas of young scientists, there are often beautiful personal stories, sometimes inspired by family members. Our universities and society need such talents to succeed in international competition. Czech Brains shows that science is above all about creativity and the courage to change the world – and we are proud that BUT could host this inspiring event,” said Iveta Šimberová, BUT Vice-Rector for Internationalization and External Relations.

Hosting such events gives BUT not only the opportunity to connect with potential students and bring the university environment closer to young people, but also to reaffirm its role as one of the main centers of technical education and research in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Heads project is derived from its parent project Czech Head and represents a comprehensive program focused on supporting talented students in technical and natural science fields. The goal of the competition is not only to increase young people’s interest in studying these subjects at secondary and higher education institutions, but also to develop their creative potential and raise awareness of the importance of science, research, and innovation.
