The popular Festival of Planets Brno is back! Starting Monday, August 4, visitors can explore five unique models of planets and other celestial bodies in the park at Kraví hora – including this year's new addition, the Lithosphere. As part of the accompanying program, chemists from Brno University of Technology will also present their fun and explosive Chemistry Show. The designers of the inflatable models are graduates of BUT. | Author: Petr Ryp During the week of August 4–10, the Brno Festival of Planets will feature the inflatable model of Earth called Terralóna, the model of the Sun Heliosféra, the Moon model Lunalóna, the Mars model Marsmeloun, and this year’s novelty – a view of what Earth would look like without water, Lithosphere. In addition to planets, a photorealistic model of the Venus of Dolní Věstonice will also be on display – designed, like the planetary models, by BUT alumni, multimedia architects Michal Oklešťka and Jan Machát from VISUALOVE. A new model of the lithosphere. | Author: Petr Ryp As part of the accompanying program, visitors can attend the explosive Chemistry Show, prepared by experts from the Faculty of Chemistry at Brno University of Technology (daily at 18:00), or join a discussion with specialists from the Brno Observatory near the Lithosphere model (daily at 20:00). Chemistry show at Planet Festival 2024. | Author: Petr Ryp Additionally, visitors can look forward to planetarium shows, a summer cinema with a space twist, and exhibitions on topics such as "Water in Space" or "The Czech Path to Space." Space enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to record a video message, which will be sent into space next year aboard the BRNOsat satellite! The event takes place only in favorable weather. It was created in 2019 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing. The event is organized by the team from the Brno Observatory and Planetarium in collaboration with the art collective VISUALOVE and Kubíček Visionair, who produce the inflatable planets.
