Dear colleagues,dear students,The year 2024, which is slowly coming to its end, has been exceptionally significant for our university. We celebrated the 125th anniversary of the founding of our Brno University of Technology, the first Czech university in Moravia and Silesia. This jubilee reminded us of the rich history of our university and the traditions of technical education in Brno, which we build upon and continue.This year, we have achieved many successes in education, research, and artistic activities, both at the national and international levels. Thanks to your work and activities, our university was truly visible in the best possible light, and for that, I extend my sincere gratitude to all of you. In a recent speech, I proudly summed up the results and happenings at our university in one sentence: “We are excellent.” We are excellent because we have amazing people, both in academic and research roles and in the technical and administrative roles that support them. We have outstanding students who achieve excellent results not only in education and creative activities but also in sports, cultural, social, and community activities. And we also have great alumni of whom we are immensely proud. Last but not least, we have excellent strategic partnerships with our industrial partners and those in the public sphere. We highly value these collaborations, are grateful for them, and will continue to develop them.I would therefore like to thank all of you – employees, students, alumni, and partners from the private and public sectors – for your efforts, cooperation, and support, which are the foundation of our university's success.On the eve of the Christmas holidays, I wish you peaceful and joyful moments with your family, friends, and loved ones. May the coming days bring you at least a brief rest and the energy to start the new year.
